Camber Profiles

Snowboard camber, or profile, refers to the curvature of a snowboard when it is placed flat on the ground and viewed from the side. This curvature influences the board's characteristics, including its playfulness, forgiveness, stability, and float. In the past decade, there has been a significant evolution in board shapes. Snowboards started off as one shape, but now there are so many shapes available that it can be challenging to navigate.  With each company using their own terminology, we've tried to streamline the process by giving you the most common shapes. We hope this will give you an insight into the type of board you should go for that will develop you riding. Flat Camber 

The Flat Camber profile is a great first board for riders because of the stability it provides as the board has full contact on the snow. This profile is a good option if the terrain you ride changes often; down groomers, tree runs, hitting the park, jibs and catching big air with solid landings. These boards will feel longer so you can ride them shorter.

Camber

The Camber profile can vary from low, medium or high rise which will impact the boards aggression. This profile offers good pop, making it great for performing ollies, jumps, maintaining turn stability at high speeds and ideal for ice or hard packed snow. Beginners may find it unforgiving and hard to hold an edge.

Rocker 

The Rocker profile is one of the most forgiving and versatile profiles out there, which is perfect for beginner riders. This profile gives a playful feel for easy presses and jibs, smooth turn initiations, and great for freestyling all mountain riders who want to cruise through powder or spring slush. They are less responsive and poppy than a positive camber.

Also known as - Reverse Camber, Banana, Negative Camber

There is a multitude of different hybrid profiles with varying combinations of camber and rocker sizes. When shopping for hybrid boards, understand your riding style, so that you get the right amount of each camber/rocker in your board and the best performance.

Hybrid Camber 

The Hybrid Camber profile delivers the loose feel of a rocker with the stability of a camber, giving versatility for all riders on every terrain. This profile offers easy turns and edge control, with plenty of pop in the park and float in powder. It may be more difficult to pivot and control.

Hybrid Rocker

The Hybrid Rocker profile is best suited for experienced riders who like to switch between groomed hot laps, the park and powder runs. This profile delivers a more pop than a rocker board giving it a more responsive edge hold, control and stability while still being playful. It can feel unbalanced and challenging when riding rails but easy to overcome for the skilled rider.

Backseat Camber

The Backseat Camber profile cruises easily and floats exceptionally well in powder. This profile offers tight turns ideal for tree runs and is great for initiating carves on hard packed snow. These boards are directional so riding switch isn't the best idea.
